What is Alcohol exactly?
Its simple, Alcohol is a POISON. Its toxic to the human body. Ethanol (C2H50H) is
found in the Alcohol of wine, beer, and brandy. Ethanol is a clear, highly
flammable liquid that has a burning taste and a unique taste. Death can/does
occur if Ethanol in your bloodstream reaches above 5%! But lower doses still
takes its toll on the body. Such as: Immediate behavioral changes, impairment of
vision and unconsciousness can happen at lower doses.
What drugs have similar effects? Heroin and Marijuana just to name a couple. How
many churches do you know that would suggest you use those drugs/poisens
moderately in a social setting, or even to just calm the nerves before bedtime?
Why would Alcohol not be listed with those drugs to avoid?
"Confusing" Bible verses clarified
9 and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine.
He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the
water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone brings
out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too
much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.” John 2:9,10
People who support moderate Alcohol drinking read this verse and say AHHHH
HAAAAA! Jesus made Alcohol! But WAIT! Lets take a closer look. There were 6
pots. Each pot would hold 20-30 gallons. Thats up to 180 gallons of drink. Do
you think Jesus make 180 gallons of a destructive drug? Enough to get everyone
drunk at the wedding? He would have been contradicting the scriptures.
15 “Woe to him who gives drink to his
neighbors, pouring it from the wineskin
till they are drunk, so that he can gaze
on their naked bodies. Habakkuk 2:15
18 Do not get drunk on wine, which
leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled
with the Spirit. Ephesians 5:18
These scriptures state Jesus would never have made fermented wine. The
Governor of the feast complimented the groom on the PURE quality. Some people
think the Bible says its OK to drink a little fermented wine in moderation.
Deuteronomy 14:26 has been used as an excuse to drink Alcohol.
26 Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented
drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the
presence of the LORD your God and rejoice. Deuteronomy 14:26
This verse never says its OK to drink the wine. (strong drink) It talks about how they
were to transport offerings to present to the Lord when traveling long distances.
Moses told them to carry money rather then haul the offerings of grain, wine, and
beasts long distances. When they arrived at their destination they were to buy
whatever they needed for offerings. The animal sacrifices were allowed to be eaten
afterwards but the drink offerings were commanded to be poured out onto the
ground. Numbers 28:7
7 The accompanying drink offering is to be a quarter of a hin of fermented drink with
each lamb. Pour out the drink offering to the LORD at the sanctuary. Numbers 28:7
If the "Bible" says its OK to drink wine, then why does Solomon, a very wise man say
this in Proverbs 20:1?
1 Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise.
Proverbs 20:1
Isaiah throws a woe at whoever chases after strong drink.
11 Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their drinks, who stay up
late at night till they are inflamed with wine. Isaiah 5:11
Strong drink was not allowed for the priests.
9 “You and your sons are not to drink wine or other fermented drink whenever you
go into the Tent of Meeting, or you will die. This is a lasting ordinance for the
generations to come. 10 You must distinguish between the holy and the common,
between the unclean and the clean, 11 and you must teach the Israelites all the
decrees the LORD has given them through Moses. ” Leviticus 10:9-11
The Lord said to Moses, "speak this to the children of Israel:
3 he must abstain from wine and other fermented drink and must not drink vinegar
made from wine or from other fermented drink. He must not drink grape juice or eat
grapes or raisins. 4 As long as he is a Nazirite, he must not eat anything that
comes from the grapevine, not even the seeds or skins. Numbers 6:3,4
An Angel warns Samson's mom not to drink strong drink.
4 Now see to it that you drink no wine or other fermented drink and that you do not
eat anything unclean, Judges 13:4
How could God condemn Alcohol in one place
of the Bible but say its OK in another place?
Some say, What about the last supper?
Some say Jesus drank wine at the last supper, and said it was a symbol of his
purifying blood. So how can drinking a little wine be bad? There is no arguing that
Jesus used wine at the last supper, but it is a mistake to assume that the wine was
fermented. (strong drink)
Examples:
29 I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I
drink it anew with you in my Father’s kingdom.” Matthew 26:29
17 Neither do men pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst,
the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new
wineskins, and both are preserved.” Matthew 9:17
2 With her the kings of the earth committed adultery and the inhabitants of the earth
were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries.” Revelation 17:2
8 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked
the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. Daniel 1:8
Was Jesus a Drunk?
The Pharisees claimed Jesus was a winebibber, drunkard and glutton. They also
said he had a devil and blasphemed God. We know he wasn't a glutton, demon,
possessed, and or a blasphemer. So why would one assume Jesus liked strong
drink? When Jesus hung on the cross a Roman soldier offered him fermented wine.
But as soon as Jesus tasted it, he recognized it was fermented and refused it.
Matthew 27:34
34 There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, he
refused to drink it. Matthew 27:34
As Jesus was suffering in pain and being tormented with EXTREME thirst, why would
he refuse it if he normally drank wine? And more to the point, why should we drink it?
What Alcohol did to God's people
who normally were strong, Sober.
Examples:
Noah stumbles around naked in front of his sons, then is violated by Ham. Gen 9:21
Lot drank, then was easily seduced by his own daughters into sex with them. Gen
19:33
There is plenty of evidence today to support Alcohol has a hand in adultery, rape,
incest, and murder to name a few.
More Examples:
Then the children of Israel drank, strip naked and danced and worshipped around a
golden calf. This fermented get together ended in a massacre. Ex 32:6,25
Amnon a drinker, son of David, raped his half sister Tamar. He lost his life at the
hands of his angry brothers while intoxicated. 2 Sam 13:28
Job's sons and daughters eating and drinking wine when they were destroyed. Job
1:13
These are just a few examples in the Bible of bad things that happen when God's
people drink strong drink. You have to wonder why would any genuine Christian
argue in defense of Alcohol?
3 Woe's aimed at Alcohol in the Bible
11 Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their drinks, who stay up
late at night till they are inflamed with wine. Isaiah 5:11
29 Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has
needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes?
30 Those who linger over wine, who go to sample bowls of mixed wine.
31 Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down
smoothly!
32 In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper.
33 Your eyes will see strange sights and your mind imagine confusing things.
34 You will be like one sleeping on the high seas, lying on top of the rigging.
35 “They hit me,” you will say, “but I’m not hurt! They beat me, but I don’t feel it!
When will I wake up so I can find another drink?” Proverbs 23:29-35
15 “Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbors, pouring it from the wineskin till they
are drunk, so that he can gaze on their naked bodies. Habakkuk 2:15
How many people today in our time do this? See verse below. Habakkuk 2:15
If your wondering if Jesus doesn't care if you drink then think of this catchy phrase.
"When in doubt, leave it out!"
Jeremiah says God would make "bottles of wine" freely available to destroy the
nation. Jeremiah 13:12-15
Does this hold true in your country?
12 “Say to them: ‘This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Every wineskin
should be filled with wine.’ And if they say to you, ‘Don’t we know that every wineskin
should be filled with wine?’ 13 then tell them, ‘This is what the LORD says: I am
going to fill with drunkenness all who live in this land, including the kings who sit on
David’s throne, the priests, the prophets and all those living in Jerusalem. 14 I will
smash them one against the other, fathers and sons alike, declares the LORD. I will
allow no pity or mercy or compassion to keep me from destroying them.’” 15 Hear
and pay attention, do not be arrogant, for the LORD has spoken. Jeremiah 13:12-15
Micah 2:11 warns us about lying, false prophets who condone wine and strong drink.
Today these people teach "moderation" of strong drink. Lets Sugar coat it Satan.
11 If a liar and deceiver comes and says, ‘I will prophesy for you plenty of wine and
beer,’ he would be just the prophet for this people! Micah 2:11
Acts 2:13 shows how the disciples were being mocked for being grape juice drinkers.
The onlookers were mocking the apostles saying they were drunk on "new wine."
13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine. Acts 2:13
The disciples were known for drinking grape juice.
Paul tells Tim to drink a little wine for his stomach's sake. Paul would not have
encouraged Tim to drink Alcohol when earlier in the same letter, forbidden wine use
by church leaders.
2 Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife,
temperate, self–controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not given to
drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 1
Timothy 3:2-3
23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often
infirmities. 1 Timothy 5:23
8 Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much
wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. 1 Timothy 3:8
Proverbs 31:6-7 explains to use Alcohol in bitter distress situations. Such as extreme
pain or when one is dying. Its prescribed as a narcotic, not prescribed for general
use.
6 Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish;
7 let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more.
Proverbs 31:6-7
We are to be Priests, Kings, and a holy nation. Moderate drinking is not God's
answer! God tells us to go without strong drink/ fermented wine. New wine (grape
juice) is acceptable and good for the stomach.
Examples:
6 you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words
you are to speak to the Israelites.” Exodus 19:6
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people
belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of
darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9
9 “You and your sons are not to drink wine or other fermented drink whenever you
go into the Tent of Meeting, or you will die. This is a lasting ordinance for the
generations to come. Leviticus 10:9
4 “It is not for kings, O Lemuel— not for kings to drink wine, not for rulers to crave
beer, Proverbs 31:4
18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the
Spirit. Ephesians 5:18
"Alcohol" Moderate Drinking
37 And no one pours new wine into old
wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst
the skins, the wine will run out and the
wineskins will be ruined. 38 No, new wine
must be poured into new wineskins. 39 And
no one after drinking old wine wants the new,
for he says, ‘The old is better.’” Luke 5:37-39
22 And no one pours new wine into
old wineskins. If he does, the wine
will burst the skins, and both the
wine and the wineskins will be
ruined. No, he pours new wine into
new wineskins.” Mark 2:22
8 This is what the LORD says: “As when juice is
still found in a cluster of grapes and men say,
‘Don’t destroy it, there is yet some good in it...,’
Isaiah 65:8
It is clear in these passages above
that new wine is simply grape juice.
